About us

We are a young human-scale company formed in 2004 and based in the city of Dundee in Scotland.

We are quite interested in the whole concept of "marketplace", and how individuals might be enabled to participate in it, not only as consumers but also as producers, especially as this relates to works of digital art such as computer games, that usually require a coordinated effort by a whole team of people, and gigantic amounts of capital.

When we consider the really great works of art produced in the course of human history, we find that they were all produced by individuals. These are the works of art, for example Mozart's opera "The Marriage of Figaro", which, when one encounters them, touch the soul on such a profound level that one is lifted free of mundane concerns, into a peaceful space in which the inner gravity of life becomes movingly apparent.

We are also really excited by the vision of a society where, when people have an inspiration for a great new computer game or digital artwork, they will actually be able to create it themselves, and sell it and thereby earn a living. In fact we ourselves have several such ideas, but we will need to wait until our forthcoming language, xipal, has been implemented first...
